Context:
|
Cholula, in the state of Puebla, was a major pottery-producing center in the centuries before the Spanish conquest of 1519-21. Fine ceramics in what is known as the Mixteca-Puebla style were highly prized by both the Aztecs and the Mixtecs of central Mexico. Simiarly decorated vessels have been found as far south as the Maya region.
