Context:
This was probably a warrior's mask designed for psychological warfare: it provoked awe and fear in the enemy and inspired its supporters. The combination of diverse, power-laden media with their various visual qualities marshals spiritual forces. The gaping, red mouth with metallic teeth, animal tusks, carved wooden representations of animals' teeth, and the bulging tubular eyes combine to evoke power and aggression -- both physical and spiritual -- in order to move the viewer.See video
