Context:
The Etruscans imported Greek vases and small sculptures in great numbers and also copied these imports in their own style. This vase has a distinctive Etruscan shape. The decorative drawing on the sides copies Greek Geometric art, named for its linear style and decorative patterns. The scene on the other side perhaps depicts the Greek hero Herakles (Hercules) aiming a spear at a stag.
