Subject Description:
This depicts the head of young woman who wears a diadem over a veil. The facial features are distinctly modeled and stylized. She has almond-shaped eyes, sharply-defined, arched eyebrows, and pursed lips shown in the 'archaic smile.' Her flaring ears arepierced with large holes, no doubt for the addition of metal earrings. The Etruscans, like the Greeks and Romans, frequently dedicated small sculptures at their temples and shrines.
