Inscriptions: Colophons: 1. [on the frontispiece] by the Qianlong emperor (dated 1741) 2. by Lu Wan (dated Zhengde dingchou- 1517) 2. by the Jiaqing emperor (dated 1807)The Qianlong emperor's colophon is dated to a month in the spring of 1741, several years before the emperor order the compilation of the imperial catalogue Shiqu baoji, which appeared in 1745, and in which the painting is recorded as a work by the Southern Song court painter Ma Yuan (early 13th century). In 1741 the Qianlong emperor was 29 years old; therefore this is a relatively early example of his calligraphy.
