Description: Forged iron throwing knife with four double-edged cutting blades; long, center dagger-shaped horizontal blade opposed by a short crescent blade; top and bottom blade swept back above and below the crescent blade; the handle formed of two pieces of wood on either side of tang wrapped with aluminum band; all blades with raised concave centers and lower cutting edges; all engraved with linear designs; reverse flat, undecorated.

Context: Throwing knives are shaped like weapons but are mostly worn or carried as prestige-status objects in ceremonials. Knives were also included as currency in marriage contracts and trading of goods. Similar throwing knives were produced by Ngbaka neighboring groups such as the Ngbandi, Mabo, Banja, and Togbo. In the savannah area, throwing knives reference hunting.
