Context: Wari is one of the oldest games in the world. It is a type of mancala, board games based on counting. It is played with a gameboard of 12 cups and a number of markers, usually made out of stone, shell, beans, of other small objects - but the simplest board can be made by digging hollows in the dirt. The object of the game is to win more game pieces than your opponent by redistributing the pieces according to rules. The game is thought to have originated in ancient Egypt. Versions are found in Asia as well as Africa.
