Subject Description: Osewood frame, ebonized cherry door and drawer fronts, maple drawer linings, satinwood central compartment interior; four front paw feet on short legs square in section; four plain legs square in section at back; central facade advanced forward and decorated at ba se with pierced carving of six different flowers with gild centers; two central ebonized cherry doors inlaid with tulip wood in six vertical sections forming a continuous design originating at center bottom of rose canes with flowers, leaves and buds; doors provide access to compartment with one shelf surfaces veneered with satinwood; doors surmounted by one wide drawer with maple linings and two tear-drop shaped brasses; drawer decoration originating at outer ends of floral sprays inlaid in tulip on ebonized cherry ground, brass gallery at top back above backboard and part of top covered with plum-colored velvet; at each side a section rising above central area and consisting of drawer at base with one tear-drop shaped pull, a display area with carved and gild brackets, a compartment at top with a door hinged at outer side and decorated with a circular lacquered boss of butterflies and flowers against a gilt ground (one boss design the reverse of the other), decorative band above door of ebonized cherry inlaid with tulip, top platform supported by moldings and includes brass gallery at each side and back; cabinet back panelled with joints secured by screws; incised stamp twice on back panel to central facade drawer of capital letters without serifs.
