Subject Description:
|
The subject represents two young women in an open room with a verandah seen beyond the hanging bamboo curtain. They are in informal summer attire. One is standing wearing a black transparent kimono with tiny white pattern. She is in the act of tying a brown obi with design of banana leaf in black. The other girl is seated holding a fan with iris upon it. She wears a striped blue and white kimono and a black obi with key pattern. A series of odes run over the left side of the picture and in the extreme upper corner the masts of ships appear above the clouds. The mounts are of white satin embroidered in pale colors and gold in floral designs of pine, cherry, iris, etc. Genroku fragment.
